Electronic Games 9/1994 91 PunkteElectronic gaming's most famous feline is back for an ambitious return engagement on the SNES. Where Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind charmed players with fast play and irreverent wit. Bubsy II bombards them with options, huge levels, and tons of puns that are so bad they're good. Bubsy is still a charmer, but now he exudes the charm of a car who knows he's on top.

If you dug your claws into the first Bubsy, you'll find Bubsy II familiar but entirely different, with some good and bad changes. It's not purrfect, but ya gotta love Bubsy.

What lets this game down is the scrolling - which is actually worse that it was in the first game. Bubsy himself doesn't offer many physical attributes and therefore isn't the most tactile character to grace a platform game. However, the size and variety of the levels makes up for that considerably, and it'll take you a fair while to complete. However, compared to something like Konami's Sparkster, Bubsy 2 shouldn't be allowed in the house.

Accolade's attempts to create a Sonic-style franchise continue to ring hollow and fall short of the mark. Bubsy II is not a very special game by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, it's challenging and it's got style, but - aside from the new bonus stages - it's one egg short of a dozen in the originality department. There just isn't much to say 'cause this is one of those games that really doesn't make a very lasting impression on you at any level.
All Game Guide (2007) 20 Punkte
Level design is not only sparse but also confusing, with haphazardly placed objects that seem plucked from a child's dreams. The action, however, is closer to a nightmare. Play mechanics involve slowly gliding down floors to locate an exit before time expires, and the inclusion of a Nerf gun to dispatch animal adversaries makes things too easy.
